Perhaps not as fancy as I imagined, more casual dining, but attractive and very solid. The plates have a good weight to them.My only critique is the cups are unreasonably tiny. I probably should have checked the capacity more carefully but bigger cups, in fact mugs, would improve this set. The cups almost look fit for a children's tea set in size.Large dishes in a very interesting shape. We chose them for the size of the soup bowls - they hold just the right amount of a hearty winter's soup!! We had to change around the whole dish area of the cabinet because they didn't fit the way the old, ordinary dishes fit. But we think it's well worth it. And if you turn them the right way, 2 large plates fit next to each other in the dishwasher! Antidote to boring!I could not believe how beautiful these dishes are in person. The pictures do not give it the justice it deserves. They arrived via FedEx and not one piece was broken nor chipped. This definitely is a WIN-WIN!!!Its nice, it looks nice. I expected more, too pricesy, poor quality.
